I have seen references to and suggestions to use or create a measure repeat symbol as an expression. Does the symbol exist as an expression in any font? My current goal is to use the symbol in place of a chord symbol to indicate that the same chord repeats over a few measures of slash notation. I could repeat the chord symbol, but it's much cleaner to have the measure repeat symbol in place of a chord symbol.

What would be even more helpful would be an actual chord symbol. If that exists, I'd appreciate knowing generate it. Thanks

I don't think it's possible as a chord symbol. I created it as a text expression. The character is in the Finale Maestro font. I sized it as 14 point, and set the position as over the primary note. This will not work for playback, of course.

I actually found the symbol right after I posted. Finding the diagram of glyphs has been an ongoing issue for me, but I'm figuring that out. I'm using Broadway Copyist for a handwritten look. I did initially make an expression, but then I created a chord suffix, which keeps the symbol aligned with the other chord symbols and doesn't require resizing the character, and set the chord to not show the root.

Well done! Thanks for the suffix trick.

Normally, you would use this repeat sign in place of the four slashes. It indicates that the measure should be repeated.

To keep the chord the same, nothing over the following measure is needed. For beginners’ charts, some will repeat the chord symbol over the first measure of the next stave. I can make an example if you’d like.

This issue came up in a chart written by and for professional players. Respectfully, whether something is needed over the following measures is not subject to a general rule. In this case, the measure repeat sign was requested and therefore needed.

The symbol can be created as a chord suffix, too. Just don't forget to uncheck the display of "Root".

The advantage of using a chord suffix is that it aligns on the baseline of the existing chords.

So you have 2 solutions : an expression or a chord suffix.
