My elderly father has recently brought a samsung andoid tablet but cant seem to get finale to work on it. In the past he has

used finale on his desktop, but wants to use the program now when he travels. Can anyone shed on any light on this? Any

help would be appreciated.

Finale will not work on tablets, Android or Mac iOS. He would need a true laptop computer.

Mike is correct, however, I have a Dell laptop that is a full sized keyboard, but has zero space around the screen, which means it is very nearly the same size as my Chromebook tablet. Perhaps you could look into something like that for your dad.

Let's focus on what you want to do instead of how you think want to do it since Finale for smart phone or tablet doesn't exist.

There may be a good Android notation app out there that works well and exports MusicXML decently. If so, that's your immediate solution.

People have been begging PreSonus to port Notion to Android. The reason is because Notion for iOS is pretty good and only costs $14.99. I use it and import the results into Finale via MusicXML. As far as I know, Notion for Android hasn't happened (yet?).

hi...thanks for your comments really helpful.

I probably should have mentioned, and it relates to your comment mike about what is wanted, is that my dad uses finale in a very limited

way - just to play the notes/and see the music score - for choir rehearsal.

Im wondering do you know if there is anyway of importing finale files into other apps that may play the music/and show the score on a android tablet?

If not it sounds like a return trip to Dixons and a refund is needed!

There is an app called MobileSheets. Your dad could export the Finale files as both PDF and MIDI, and MobileSheets will display and play back the files. He won’t be able to do any composition work, however. For that, I would go with an iPad and Notion, as MikeH suggests.

In Finale, you can export in the MusicXML file format. Find on the Android platform (Play store) an app that imports and displays MusicXML files. There are some. Make a search on MusicXML.

Hello I have a Question. Why hasn't anybody ever asked Finale to place a virtual floating piano that can light up by selected Stave or all Staves and Arias keyboard can't detach . It takes up to much room. Just wanted the keyboard you know for us beginners. Anyone know is there any solution?

Once again, Notion for the iPad:

Here is a YouTube video

A number of notation apps have or had this feature as do many sequencers. Perhaps something like that exists for the Android? I have no idea.

Can you attach a moderately sized image to illustrate what you are asking for?
