Hello again.

I am making playback versions of several concert band scores. The conductor's scores have many staves for two instruments-- for example, Also Sax 1,2; Tpt. 2,3, Horn 1,2, Horn 3,4; Trombone 1,2. I am separating these so each instrument will have a track. I can rewrite the second layers into new staves and change the second layers in the original staves into rests, but that is cumbersome, and leaves excess data in the digital playback, in the form of extra layers full of rests. The visual chaos is not an issue in these scores, as they are strictly for playback, but surely there are instances when a composer or arranger needs to reformat a conductor's score in this way, and needs to completely remove a layer so the stems/ties/slurs/articulations in the remaining layer correct themselves automatically. I cannot find a way to completely remove only the second layer from a staff. Why in the world can the edit functions-- cut, copy, paste-- not apply only to the active layer?

It seems like there are multiple options for this function. The Move/Copy Layers function in the Selection Tool could include Copy Active Layer, Delete Active Layer and Copy+Delete Active Layer buttons. Active Layer Only options could be added to the Edit Menu. I suppose I'll submit this post as a feature request as well.

Once again, I find the User Manual useless for answering a question. When it is not mute on a subject, a search provides results that are disorderly and seemingly random. Who wrote that thing?
