You are probably smarter than I was, but when I had this problem it turned out that in moving my mouse cable I had inadvertently turned the volume on my external speakers down to zero.

This was embarrassing after I had checked all my cable connections and everything.

I don't think I have changed anything except switching from Google Chrome as my browser to just Google but now it says it is playing at the bottom of the page but the bar is not moving and there is no sound. I have checked my speakers and volume through another source (Youtube) and they are working correctly. The music is sent to me through and email with the music attached. I download the attachment and it goes into my folder and when I open it the file shows up and opens. The play rewind fast forward buttons are all active. When I click on play it says it is playing at the bottom of the page but it is not playing. There is no movement within the music the bar is not moving and the pages do not turn.
