If I undersstand you correctly, one of the pages in the middle of your Finale document has fewer systems than the pages before and after, right?

Did you try my instructions about “Redefine Pages”?

yes.  On 1 page only the top margin is too narrow and when I try adjusting it the last system is moved to the next page even if I make a small incremental change on top margin.

Transferring pages to microsoft and some of the page layouts in finale are not consistent.

some have zero margin on upper heading area.  Not sure why this happened but how can I fix this either consistently for entire file or just individual page adjustment?

To make the score pages have consistent layout, use the command Redefine Pages:

Page Layout Tool.

Page Layout menu > Redefine Pages…

When the score pages are Redefined, they get the layout specified in

Document menu > Page Format > Score…

Aha! You are using PrintMusic, which lacks many (most?) of the Finale page layout features.

I fear you are between a rock and a hard place. PrintMusic is no longer supported (or even sold) for the Mac, and the Windows version is stopped at v. 2014. But if you wnat to upgrade to Finale, the only version you can buy is F26, which won’t run on your Mac OS. You can upgrade both, or you can look for an older version of Finale, on eBay or somewhere. If I recall correctly, you can run Finale 2014.5 or Finale 25 (although there are some issues with the latter.)

There must be some way to format the staves consistently for the entire doc. regardless of the program.

I got some kind of upgrade offer but since it wouldn't let me try it and save work in the program I'm still using the 14.5

If you uncheck Adjust Current Page Only, will it affect the entire piece? (Do your experimenting on a copy, just in case!)

All of the demos are fully functional, including printing and saving, for 30 days. You may have exceeded that limit.

Is there a way to lock in the nos. of staves that will be on each page so that when I adjust some of the spacing the bottom staff doesn't move over to the next page?  That would help greatly... Thanks. Ro

Does the Space Systems Evenly give you the option for number of staves on a page?

yes it does but for some reason on a couple pages the margin on top is too little compared to the other pages.
