    On my piano score two extra staves appeared below the piano part several pages into the piece. This only occurred on pages 16 & 17. I tried highlighting them with the staff tool and hitting delete. That made the staves disappear but so did all the notation from the staves in the rest of the piece. Also the staves for the piano part that remain at the bottom of page 16  do not line up with the rest of the staves on that page. Any ideas?

This is a problem that just came up. I looked around the boards for answers but couldn't find an answer to the exact problem of measures graying out. I'll post a screen shot and would appreciate any answers as to how to get rid of the gray and have music show again. Thanks.

Those are hidden notes, generated by the trills. 

Go to the View menu > Show > UNCHECK Hidden notes and rests. (I’m working from memory, so if I have the wrong path, forgive me. But the solution is there!)

FYI:

 

The grey, hidden notes are playback notes for the trills.
