OK FOLKS so the baby is sleeping and I have one hour, tops, to arrange stuff for the youth orchestra christmas concert and I don't have a lot of time to look things up.

Upgraded to Mojave last night--today, my version of Finale (2014.5) will not open.

What do I do? Do I need to download another version? It looks like Printmusic isn't a thing anymore? So what do I upgrade to? Does it work with a mac? Will all my Printmusic files still load? LET'S DO THIS BECAUSE THIS CHRISTMAS SCHLOCK ISN'T GOING TO ARRANGE ITSELF; rehearsal is tonight and it all still needs to print, and the baby will at some point wake up, making all of this four times as hard. I assume Apple has ruined my life; help me do damage control and link me to the appropriate action items.

If you use Time Machine, you can restore your system to the pre-Mojive OS, when presumably Finale was working.

For a more permanent solution, upgrade to Finale v26 which works with Mojave.

Beware, though, that v26 has a “new and improved” Articulation Tool.

Creating new documents in v26 is fine - and the new Articulation Tool is nice.

But opening older documents in v26 forces you to make a decision:

- Do you just want to open, view, and print the older document?

- Or do you want to edit the older document with v26?

To edit an older document in v26 you must edit the document’s “old” Articulation Definitions, to make the positioning work with the new Articulation Tool.

Michelle, PrintMusic 2014.5 is not going to work at all on Mojave. If upgrading is not an option at the moment you can always download the free trial of Finale v26 to get your work done in the time being. Do be aware of what Peter said above about articulations though since the files you will be working with are pre v26.

Oh dear lord. Well, I downloaded Finale. But I guess this means that every articulation from every past file is borked?

This is a bad day.

Your old documents and articulations should not cause any major issues. If you do encounter anything strange though, use the Submit a Case button above to get in touch with us directly and we will help you out as best we can.

The articulations don't necessarily get borked at all. Download the newest version of Finale and experiment with the settings when opening old files as to whether or not to update articulation positioning.

Were you on High Sierra before? Is your boot drive formatted APFS? Is there no other OS on your system? If the answer to all three is Yes, you can restore your system to pre-Mojave in a few minutes.

Although you access Snapshots through Time Machine, this is not a Time Machine restore.
