I have Finale 2014 for Mac and cannot get multiple grace notes to slash.  Individual grace notes are no problem, but when there are two or more in a group I cannot get them to slash.  According to my composer wife, having the slash is the proper notation for these grace notes.  Am I missing something in the User Manual?

Finale has an option to, automatically slash single grace notes.

Unfortunately there is not a similar automatic option for slash on a beamed group of grace notes.

You will have to add a slash “manually” with the Expression Tool.

Also, you may have to create several slashes, with different angles, since the best slash angle may depend on the beam angle:

That's a can of worms.

Normally, with multiple beamed grace notes as acciaccatura, you do not slash all of them. Only the first one has the slash. This was as I was taught (50 years ago? Yikes!) and I probably would have noticed had I seen the slash on the second or last note in the beam. I do not have the Gould so I've no idea if she says differently.

In any case, Finale is following a long accepted practice by only allowing one note to be slashed. A Peter pointed out, there's always the Expression tool.

If appoggiatura, you should not be applying a slash at all, of course.
