Hello world,

I am having issues installing Finale 26 on Windows 10. I used to have the trial version which always gave me issues with playback (I could not select a measure nor use keyboard controls). However, I have purchased Finale 26 now and now am unable to even install it. I click to run the finale setup, click allow to make changes, click "English" for my language, click next on the finale bundle installer set up wizard, click to install all the components, and then it says "Please insert Disk 1 and click ok." I don't have a disk, nor do I even have a disk drive, so I'm confused about this. It also says "path," which is linked to the folder that I opened the set up from. It then says that the "file set up 1 bin" could not be located in that folder, when it is in that folder. I'm unsure about what to do, any advice is appreciated.

Hi,

You want to submit this directly to Tech Support using the Submit a request link at the top of the page.

This is a Users Forum. If one of the Windows 10 users can help, that will be great but get this to where it needs to go so that you are up and running quickly.

Did you download the program directly from the Finale website?

If you have the demo installed can't you just activate that?

Ellen,

The issue you are encountering is caused by the FinaleSetup.zp file you downloaded not being extracted properly on your machine. The .bin files act as virtual "disks" by the FinaleSetup.exe installer and, if these are not extracted properly, the installer will not see them as such. Take a look at our knowledge base article linked below. This provides a workaround for the issue.

The demo doesn't have the Garritan Instruments. Downloading the purchased version completes the setup.

There's a similar issue with some builds of MacOS 10.12–10.13 only it's the opposite: The OS may not extract files correctly. I never encountered this with MakeMusic but have with other companies, especially PSP and MasterWriter (who claimed I was incorrect) and Eventide who acknowledged it and told me the workaround. Keka.app extracts all zip files and a few others on a Mac.
