The short answer should be yes but it may not be that simple. It's good that you send a .pdf so he knows what it should look like.

If you are using the Finale fonts, your partner can get a set by downloading the demo for Finale 26. Those fonts will have to be installed where Finale 2010 can find them—this may have to be done manually and how will depend on if Mac or Windows. Finale 26 requires a 64 bit operating system, however, but I don't think it affects the fonts if that's all you are trying to extract.

The font pack for Finale 25 can be downloaded separately but I'm not finding that link at the moment.

Lastly, just having the same fonts may not tell 2010 how to employ them. You may need to exchange via MusicXML. Your partner should download and install the free Dolet 7 plug-in for Finale 2009–2014.5 that upgrades his version of xml to 3 and 3.1 like you have.

There is a possibility that, when all is done, you're using a feature that isn't supported in Finale 2010. If that's the case, time for an upgrade.

Admittedly, the differences between Finale 2010 and Finale 26 are considerable. XML may be the best way to communicate between the two.

As far as libraries go, it would be hard to help you unless we know which computer operating system you are using. Library files in Windows 10 are in  %AppData%\MakeMusic\Finale 26\Libraries

Whether F26 libraries will work with Finale 2010 (and where to stow them in your friend's OS Folders) is unknown to me.

Where the files reside on a Mac system is, of course different and may be different in different versions of the Mac OS, so knowing which version of OD you and your friend are using is as important as knowing which version of Finale you are using.

(If your friend is your editing guru, perhaps leaving the outlining shapes up to  him wouldn't be the worst option if it comes to that.)

Before Mac OS 10.13 High Sierra made Finale 2011 inoperable, I was able to access the Finale 25 fonts from within 2011. I had to remove the 2011 fonts from their default location—easy on a Mac and I can outline the procedure. 

However, Sierra was a 64 bit OS so I was able to install 25. I don't believe the installer works in a 32 bit OS. This is more likely to be an issue with Windows.

Are you still using Mac Finale?

Here is the MakeMusic FontPack download page I referred to earlier. To the extent that features are supported, these fonts should work in 2010 — if the installer does.

Again, this will install the fonts where 2012 and later expect to see them so tweaking of the paths may need to be done in Windows. If Mac, there's a different procedure.
