Finale 25.5.0.259 on Mac OS 10.13.4 High Sierra

I can export a graphic as eps. It shows in my finder window and opens in Preview. But when I import it into another file (either by double clicking or using 'place graphic', all I get is a rectangle with (embedded) at the top.

I use the graphics tool about once every several years. Any help? Thanks.

Finale can - via the Graphics Tool - export as EPS, but also as PDF.

Both graphic formats are vector graphics.

 

Instead of exporting as an EPS file, try exporting as a PDF file.

- It works for me.

Thanks. I found a completely different (and slightly cheating) way to accomplish the same result. 

(I had tried pdf format, but there was some issue with it - offhand now I think it was that it saved the whole page, and I only wanted a very small portion of it.)

Choose the Graphics tool. Double-click, holding the mouse down on the second, and drag to select an area. Then, go to the Graphics menu and choose Export Selection...

I did that. Trust me that far, please. The issue is that I can't paste it into the second document, or when I do, I get something other than the actual graphic.

And you tried this with a PDF file exported from the Graphics Tool?

It works for me, and I can export a PDF file with just the selected area (not the entire page) - just like Mike Rosen explained.
