Hi all,

Can anybody tell me How to add Pizzicato Violins to my score?

I am using Windows 10 and the latest version of Finale.

Enter your notes, and add the pizz. expression.

How are you setting up your document? Are you playing through MIDI or Audio Units? Are you playing back with the playback controls or spacebar?

I don't have Midi and I am just using my laptop and headphones to listen. I am using the playback controls.

Peter Wojtasik,

Open the Finale score, and take a look in the MIDI/Audio menu.

At the top of the MIDI/Audio there are two menu items, both beginning with the words “Play Finale Through…”.

Which one is selected? - perhaps “Play Finale Through MIDI”?

That did not work, It could be because I am Using a demo version of the software.

A demo version of the software does not include the VST/AU sounds (with the possible exception of SoftSynth, Finale's own MIDI sound interpreter).

You should still be able to able to get pizz. How did you enter the technique text to your violin part(s)? If you have multiple staves, are you sure the pizz. expression is connected (by a dashed green line when you click the expression) to the correct staff and starting note?

It seems to be working now, so if I want it to revert back to normal violin, what expression do I need to choose in the Technique Text menu?

I would use "arco." It has always worked for me.
