My first guess would be that the staff - via the Staff Tool - is set to, not display Lyrics.

Thanks for responding, Peter.    Unfortunately, your suggestion does not solve the current mystery, because all the staves are set to display lyrics.

The problem i described occurs right there inside the LYRIC WINDOW.   One moment, the lyrics are present.  As soon as 

<ctrl> <click assignment> is invoked, the lyrics immediately disappear from the LYRIC WINDOW.    

There was actually a previous post describing this same bug, but none of the responses to that query ever solved the problem.  Could this possibly be a systemic Finale bug?   I sure hope not.   I never encountered it until just now.

If I misunderstand you, then I apologize.

I am not sure I understand, what you are doing.

What does “<ctrl> <click assignment>” mean?

1.  We are in the "lyric window."

2.  We type in or paste in the lyrics to the composition.

3.  We click on the arrow icon, which is titled "click assignment."

4.  The lyrics disappear.

Like Peter, I have not seen this problem, and I use Windows for my day-to-day music work. Have you submitted this to the "Submit a request" link at the top of the page, where you can include a sample file for MM Support to analyze?

Is this all documents? Have you restarted the computer? Recreated the preference file?

For Adrian  -   i did submit a request to MM but have not yet received a response.  I have not yet attached a file.   I will do that now.

For Mike  -  I have not yet restarted the computer.  I will do that next. 
How do you "recreate the preference file"?   
I just installed the latest update 26.3.1.520.

The other thing i did was to paste the music into a new, blank file.  In this new file, two of the verses pasted in correctly.  The other 4 verses will not paste in.

I'm wondering if this is a bug.  I never saw it in previous versions.

Just a guess-

Paste the lyrics into the lyric window. Press Escape to leave the Lyric Tool for the Selection Tool. Reselect the Lyric Tool and try the Click Assignment again. Does that work?

Before seeing your comment, i rebooted Windows as Mike suggested.  That seemed to fix the issue.  If it happens again, i'll do as you suggest.
