Windows 10. Finale 26.

I have followed the online instructions for creating an ossia positioned at the foot of the page but have run into problems. The notes is question are all in the fourth beat of a common time bar:

1. The slur in my scratch staff is not transfered to the ossia.
2. The ossia is created using the full measure and not shortened to just contain the notes in the fourth beat. I have tried hiding the 3 beat rest at the begining of the bar but this did not help. As a result the ossia is unneccesarily long.
3. When hiding the scratch staff the ossia disappears from the foot of the page where it was positioned.

I hope someone can help me resolve these problems.

Do the ossia in another doc, export it as a graphic, and paste it into your primary.

… The slur in my scratch staff is not transfered to the ossia …

That is a known shortcoming in the Ossìa Tool. It does not support slurs.

It should be added that the Ossìa Tool is an old tool that goes way back to the early Finale versions.

Today we have other ways to create an Ossìa.

Mike mentions one of the ways.

Another way would be to use the Staff Tool, and have the Ossìa in a separate staff which is hidden everywhere else.

Yes to both methods.
