deleting measures

I have an orchestral score of approximately 18 staves. If I want to delete a measure in the middle of my piece (over 200 bars long), the only way I seem to be able to do it is to highlight the entire 18 staves of the measure I want to delete, which means I have to zoom out until my score is so tiny that finding that one measure is very difficult. What am I doing wrong? Adding or inserting measures only requires highlighting the very top measure of my score-so why isn't deleting just as simple? Help!

Are you trying to delete a measure stack? Double-clicking in a measure in that stack should select the entire stack, whether the entire stack is visible, or not.

I tried that, and it doesn't work. The delete measure stack under the edit menu is not highlighted; therefore I cannot delete it. When I right click twice on the measure and get the "edit measure attributes", the delete measure stack (as opposed to the insert or add measures) is still not highlighted. Please advise further!

Using the selection tool, double click to select the measure stack. Then, right click and Delete Measure Stack.
