No, you can have them both. At some point in the install, it will ask you if you want to keep F26. Click yes!

Vanessa I believe the default is to delete 26 so watch the screens carefully. The can go by quickly!

For what I do, concert band stuff, Finale 27 has worked well. I hear ya, but if you want it go ahead and get now.  You can always do the maintenance updates as they come out.

You can also reinstall 26 if you accidentally delete it.

Yes you can! Found out the hard way that's why I cautioned the OP. But now that I almost have 27 up to where I want it I do not need 26.3 any longer.  COMB went in after some tricks but GPO5 doesn't want to.

Vanessa, do you collaborate with others? You may want to keep an older version just in case someone sends you a document with the legacy fonts.

COMB = (Garritan) Concert & Marching Band

And GPO5 is Garritan Personal Orchestra version 5.

Sorry I didn't realize some folks would not know the acronyms

BTW, (by the way)  you can open your Finale v26, or most any earlier Finale files, with Finale v27 and everything will look just fine.  You can still work on them as usual.

So far anyway, I see no reason to put off getting 27 right now if it is what you want.

Well I had to contact MM tech support.  They gave me some instructions on how to install both COMB and GPO. The problem was neither showed up in Score Manager.  It worked on COMB but GPO still does not show up in the Score Manager.  Both were in the Aria player so you could always use both.

I really don't care so I am not pushing the issue because I use COMB for 99% of what I do which is concert band. Plus I have Note Performer 3 which is better on most instruments than Garritan is.

I am sure MM tech support will get back with me and tell me where I went wrong on GPO5.

BTW, if you are interested, Perfect Layout works just fine even with the smufl fonts. PL sent me an email which said he was adding more smufl support in a pending update. But so far all is well with PL. If you don't have Perfect Layout you need to check it out.  It is a fantastic plug-in that does everything that Finale should do.  I consider it a mandatory plug-in and if it did not work with 27, it would be a deal breaker and I would not upgrade. PL makes almost all other plug-ins obsolete again for what I do. My other main most plug-in is JW Change and JW Polyphony. They both work OK.

Spoke too soon! Finale 27 picked up on GPO5 when I opened it today. So everything is hunky-dunky.

GPO5, COMB and Perfect Layout is working. I did reboot the computer because of another software update so that probably did it.

Good go. I think it a worthwhile thing to do even if you never use (probably never will) the sharing feature. We don't use it and I am still heavily involved with the school district. And if you can't get a school district interested in it, well that don't speak to favorably does it? Perhaps it is more popular in other districts.

If there is anything I can help with pleas ask. Not saying I will know or can help but ya never know!

Oh, be careful when you install 27. If you want to keep 26, which you can, 27 will uninstall 26 if you zip past the screen that asked you that question. The default is to remove 26 (not a good idea, IMHO) and the screen isn't all that oblivious.
