Was using my Finale yesterday, logged off for an hour or so, when I returned, it would not open any of my finale files. Of course this has to happen at the Christmas crunch. Someone please help. I'm old, so, talk in simple terms.

What version of Finale, what operating system?
Have you tried restarting the computer?
Have you refreshed the Preferences?
Everything Mike R just wrote. If still having a problem, please tell us what we need to know so that we can try to help.

Mike & Mike - Thanks for responding.
Version 26.2.2.493
Restart? Yes - many times.
Refresh? Had no clue on how to do that. Will click on your link and try it.
What happens is: I open Finale. Everything is as usual. Then I try to open the piece I'm working on for our church - FOR CHRISTMAS! and Finale looks like it has just gone into the background and will not respond to anything.
Thanks again, Bob
Mike & Mike - You are not going to believe this - but:
File this one away for your next old fart who knows little about technology.
My son just arrived so I told him what was going on. He asked if there was anything on the 2nd monitor? I don't know, I very rarely even turn it on. So I turned it on . . . There were maybe 20 files open on the second monitor. So, I'm blaming my wife on this one. She apparently turned the computer on and saw the files on the desk top - and just pushed them off the screen. Really? I didn't even know you could do that when the monitor wasn't on. Apparently you can. Only thing saving the wife is 42 years of knowing that she knows about the same as I do about computers.
So - if anyone else has this problem, the first question would be "Do you have a second monitor?"
Thanks so much for trying to help. - and I will try that refreshing link you sent. :)
Bob (the genius)
Bob, thanks for getting back to us.
Ok, that's a new one for me but yes, absolutely possible. Here's the thing: For decades, we were complaining that Finale didn't remember files and windows left on 2nd and 3rd monitors when Quit (I can't work without spreading out over multiple screens). In fact, it's still not great but there has been improvement as you just found out.
Merry Christmas!
