I frequently make changes to several .musx files.  The pdf is always going to the wrong directory or getting lost.

How do I get the pdf output to default to the musx directory?

Yes, Windows Finale.  It is a year or two old.

You are suggesting that I learn to live with a defective piece of software, rather than make it user friendly?

If that is reality, then I suspect that someone will fix it.

Perhaps many people just reserve one folder for all pdf files.  I would prefer to keep all files for one piece of music together.

If you are exporting PDF through the Finale File menu, then perhaps you have a point. If you use the Print routine to print to PDF, then the location is out of Finale's hands and Mike's advice is spot on.

Finale puts the pdf files where you want them to go. This is not a defect.
