When I export my finale file as a music xml file some of the changes I have made to the music - hiding bar numbers, cautionary key signatures etc doesn't appear in the music xml file. Does anyone know what to do about this?

Please add your Finale version and Os to your profile.

MusicXML 4 is the latest version of MusicXML and it is included in Finale 27. Earlier versions used Music XML 3.

They may produce slightly different results.

Is the file imported in Finale or another program ?

If you are not exporting XML to a person that has Finale 27, I don't know why you would, you need to select XML 3.

Oddly enough you need to make this change in the Import tool. It isn't an option in the Export tool.

MusicXML is a toolkit and how well it works depends on what build and how well it’s implemented by an app’s developer. Finale 27 can import/export any of five different builds of MusicXML. Depending on the implementation into other apps, the exchange cab be enything between great and unusable. For example, Notion and Sibelius are still v. 3.0 but it’s fairly good (v.4 coming to Sibelius soon, they hope); MuseScore and Dorico are problematic on a good day. You’ll find more info in this thread.
