Finale 26. Windows 10

Hello. I used to have a "Count Items" plugin which is no longer there. I have read other posts about this but still don't know how I can now count the number of notes in a file. "Entries" is no doubt more than just notes. Any help will be much appreciated.

The Count Items plug-in in 2014.5 and earlier was pretty good. Unfortunately, as of 25:

Obsolete or infrequently-used plug-ins and tools have been deprecated

Classic Eighth Beams, Count Items, and Band-in-a-Box plug-ins have been removed. The Mirror tool has been removed. You are prompted to convert mirrors when opening older Finale files with mirrors. The tempo tool has been removed. You can still use some of the same functions with the MIDI Tool. The Movie Window has been removed with the introduction of ReWire. Garritan Ambience has been removed. Garritan Convolution Reverb and Ambience can be added using the ARIA Player.

If there's a replacement, I don't know it.

Has anyone worked out how we can count the number of notes in a piece?

The only option that I know of, is this:

Document menu > Data Check > File Maintenance…

Unfortunately this will only give you the total number of entries.

Two years ago Ian Swedlund pointed out that

"Entries" is no doubt more than just notes

As Far As I Know, entries are notes and rests (rests = 8th rests, 4tr rests, half rests, dotted rests &c.)

Definitely a shame to lose that very useful plugin. But at least "entries" doesn't include dynamics, articulations etc ........
