I just recently installed Finale 27.    I also am experiencing the situation where Finale for Windows is not an option when I try to make ".MUSX" files open with Finale for Windows.  I see from an earlier post that a change to the Registry in Windows 10 was helpful.  If that is the response, please provide detailed instructions.

I am using Windows 10, build19044.1826

That's Windows 10 64-bit, right?

Are you double clicking the file or are you opening Finale first and then opening the file from within Finale?

My apologies regarding the missing information.  (I used to be in computer support, so I know how frustrating it can be to not have all of the data.  Again, my apologies.)

I am using the latest version of Windows 10 (build 19044.1826) and am on a 64-bit computer.  I recently (about a week ago) installed Finale 27.2.0.144.

Regarding my problem, I am double-clicking on a ".musx" file in Window 10's "File Explorer".  When I do that, my older version of Finale (Finale 2000) loads and I immediately receive a message box that starts with "invalid file type".  (To remediate that problem I have attempted to change the "Default App" for file types of ".musx" to "Finale for Windows".  However, I am unable to do that because "Finale for Windows" is not available to choose.  And if I take it a step further and select "Finale for Windows" directly, the system will, instead use Finale 2000.  And when I take the next step and try to uninstall Finale 2000 I am unable to do that, because I cannot seem to find ANY way to uninstall Finale 2000.)

(Note that if I first open Finale 27 select a file, that file successfully opens.)

I am looking to be able to open a folder in Window's File Explorer and double-click on a ".musx" file to get it to open in Finale for Windows.
