You assign VSTi in the Device dropdown in the score manager

What version of Finale?
Are you getting that message when you first start Finale? If so, it has nothing to do with RAM, but usually happens when there's another audio app running.
Kontakt 5.6.5 still installs both 32 and 64 bit versions
Make sure you're using the 32bit version of Kontakt. (the 64bit version has the same name, so it's easy to mismatch them)
