It should work. You must be doing something wrong... Select the B inside the text box (Text Tool is used) and use the Text menu on top of the screen to apply italics.

Basically, the Text tool is not the way to go for these indications. Use expressions, or articulations for accents. They will follow the notes when the layout is changed.
