This used to work for miscellaneous category. Now one does not have that choice there. Only Tempo Markings. No longer programmable near the assign button

It's not just the S key. Any key click combination opens the palette instead of applying the marking. But I'll try your suggestions to which I'll add unplugging the keyboard.
