This article applies only to Finale for Windows.

Starting with Finale (Version 25), the upper limit of DPI scaling that Finale can handle is 200%. For earlier versions of Finale, please see this article: Small icons, palettes and text (Windows).

If your display's DPI scaling surpasses 200% (common in high resolution capable monitors), Finale's palettes and setup wizard may not function properly.

In addition to the screenshots of above, you may find that the functionalities of the playback controls have shifted. For example, the play button stops playback, the pause button starts playback, and so on.

You can alter your DPI scaling factor to adhere to the maximum supported value, 200%, to return Finale's normal behavior.

Changing the settings below can impact other programs, and should only be changed for use with Finale.

Change your DPI settings

  1. Close any open programs.
  2. Hold down your Windows key and press the letter R to open the Run dialog box.
  3. Type "control panel" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
  4. Click the drop-down menu for View By and choose Small icons.
  5. Click Display.
  6. Click the checkbox for Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays, and click on Custom sizing options.
