Is there a simple way to changing musx files to wave files in order to post on dropbox or sync
Edit: Mike was faster. :-)
Yes. Open the .musx file in Finale, then use the menu item File->Export->Audio File.
I am using Finale 25, but as I recall the ability has been there for a long time. The only supported format is .wav, so you're in luck.
If you find the file sizes to be prohibitively large, as I often do, there is a wide variety of audio format converters out there - Audacity is one well known option.
OF course, if you Playback through MIDI, instead of VST/Audio Units, using the SmartMusicSoftSynth sounds, you can export as MP3 as well as AIFF or WAV.
Because even the fastest Pentium III or G5 PPC isn't powerful enough to convert to MP3 while also generating VST samples. And no one's taken another look at that decision since.
The point of my post is that Finale does offer the option to make MP3s, but only if using the very lightweight sounds that originally came with the program years ago, because computers weren't powerful enough then to process complex audio samples and MP3 compression at the same time.
No one at MM has thought "Hey, computers can do two things at once these days, so how about we offer MP3 as an option for VST samples?" in the many years since.
Realistically, if you're using the Garritan or NotePerformer samples, then you'll have to export as WAV or AIFF and convert to MP3 using another application.
