I would like to place my logo on the page but, when I place a bmp graphic, I am unable to get a transparant background. I get a black square background.

The svg below shows what I was hoping to get, but I can't import svg, so I saved it as a bitmap file and placed that instead.

Has anyone had experience placing bmp? Or svg? Thanks, Kevin

I do not recall Finale 2011’s graphic capabilities well, but here are some thoughts:

1) I suppose that the original logo file is a vector graphic?

And the original vector graphic was converted into a bitmap graphic?

A vector graphic would be better since it will always print at the printer’s best resolution.

I would open the original vector graphic in a drawing program, and export the graphic as an EPS file.

I believe that Finale 2011 can import EPS files.

2) I think that you can edit the original vector graphic, and make its background transparent.

Then, export as EPS.

That answers my question, it is not in Finale.

I did manage to change it to a white background, in Illustrator. Somehow, I don't know how. I'll keep working at it.

Thanks for your help.

This is easily accomplished in Illustrator. Here's a discussion on the subject:

Many of the comments are years old but it should get you going in the right direction.

Have you tried printing it as is? I has an eps graphic that appeared to have a black background onscreen, but it was transparent when I printed it.

If you can convert the file to .png, you can make it translucid in various programs, a.o. Preview (via Tools).

I did it. Try the attached .png file. The blue dots are still in it, though.

I tested in Finale, it works (Graphic Tool -> Place graphics).
