What specifically isn't working? It's been long known that the Stop button no longer works at all, but hitting the spacebar still does. 

The few times I've had to return to Finale to make some minor edits to old scores, there have been a ton of issues in terms of expressions and smart shapes (esp the latter), none of which were fixable with uninstalling and reinstalling Finale 27.4 from the downloaded installer. That does not seem to have happened to most folks, but the Stop button issue is universal. 

Nothing you can do to fix it. Finale was more or less abandoned nearly two years ago (and longer, probably, given how bug fixes never really came for issues reported in 2023). 

Jan Angermüller (Elbsound Studios, Perfect Layout, etc.) is currently testing an app that fixes all the misfunctioning buttons, "Tahoe fix for Finale".

If Jan’s patch addresses this issue (more than just the Stop Playback button quirk) that would be great. But long term, there will be more and more problems as Finale is not open-source and even if it were, the code is likely a mess of patches upon patches that would require a complete rewriting to really keep it going. Those interested should ask to be part of the Beta program. Like all beta programs, you know there's gonna be an NDA.

Yep. That rewrite should have happened years ago. It never did and we all know it never will. Even if the Elbsound and/or other 3rd party solutions do the job, the question will always remain: for how long? 

I, along with many others, are still using Finale in Sequoia. The only problem I ever have is that it might freeze the first time I call NotePerformer in a project. As long as I remember to Save before doing so, quitting and re-starting Finale gets me back up in a few seconds—NP always reloads without a problem the second time allowing me to keep working.

Smart Shapes work fine in Sequoia and Tahoe.

Well good to hear. As mentioned multiple times, smart shapes don’t work for me and with the latest macOS 26.3 beta, the cursor is totally messed up. Even sent a video of it to Jan but that isn’t likely to be affected by his forthcoming patch. Bottom line: for whatever reason it isn’t working for me so I’m just glad I really don’t need Finale emergently anymore.

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled. Twice. It just keeps getting worse. Safe mode, no extensions, whatever. Please accept it doesn’t work on my end. I’m a very experienced Mac user and know how to troubleshoot so if I’m saying it doesn’t work for me, then it doesn’t. Good to hear that it works for you in Tahoe but for whatever reason, it isn’t working over here. And I’m unlikely to find a solution. The minor tweaks I wanted to make to an old score just won’t happen and that’s not a show stopper. But it would be nice if I could have at least fixed some clef changes colliding with measure repeats just for legibility. The clefs aren’t movable. Everything I’ve done since sept 2024 has been in Dorico, something like 11 new works, so at least I’m still able to compose and be even more productive.
