Hi all!

I use Finale 27 and have recently turned to Windows 11. I have recently noticed that when I add a mordent articulation to a note, the playback doesn't take it into account, and the note is played normally.

By the way, I don't know if this playback issue could have happened previously with Windows 10, as I didn't use mordent before turning to Windows 11.

Have some of you experienced the same issue with mordent playback in Finale 27? Is it already a known bug in Finale 27, or have I missed something in my audio/playback settings?

Thank you very much in advance for your comments and help!

Mordent playback is created by Human Playback.

Human Playback only looks at the character’s font slot (not at the font name!), and if the articulation character is in font slot #77 (where text fonts have uppercase M), then Human Playback will play a mordent, regardless of the actual font used in the articulation.

However, SMuFL fonts have their font characters in other font slots.

Other users have reported that Human Playback does not (yet) recognize the font characters in the SMuFL fonts (= e. g. the font Finale Maestro).

In Other Words:

This is a known problem with the new SMuFL fonts.

For now, the solution is this:

If you need mordent playback from Human Playback, create a new document that uses one of the older “legacy” fonts (= e. g. the font Maestro).

Then, use that document instead.

Human Playback will recognize the mordent character in Maestro, and play a mordent.

Thank you very much Mike for the link to the post in Finale Knowledge Base, and Peter for further explanations and the tip, which I will take until the bug is fixed.
