Finale will not work on tablets, Android or Mac iOS. He would need a true laptop computer.

Possibly. But it still seems to me that under most circumstances I would want to continue as I had been, so that should be the default.

And maybe someday, someone will explain to me, why this is necessary. Under what circumstances would I want a score to continue with a different page layout than I started with?

Have you restarted the computer? Does this happen in all documents, or just this one?

Have you adjusted the view to “advanced”?

I found the old-style F clef in Bravura and Fravura Extra fonts. Not an exact match, though.
