The selection tool (the arrow) is always accessible by tapping the ESC key. You may need to tap it a couple of times. Or, by clicking on it in the Main tool palette.
No such thing as PrintMusic 8.

It’s working for me, as well. I have 27 loaded, but I’m sticking with F26 as my primary. I still can’t wrap around the unicode conflicts
I had that same issue a number of years ago, where the cursor disappeared behind the palettes. I don’t think they ever gave me a definitive answer. Have you tried refreshing the preferences?
