This does not sound correct. Finale allows 8 MIDI Devices (Banks) but each bank can hold up to 16 different instruments.
MIDI input does recognize the chord. If you want the spelling altered to +7 you can change it, but be sure you edit the suffix that the MIDI input defaults to if you want the +7 added automatically.
Could you by any chance post an image (a cropped screenshot) so we can see the problem you are facing (before you correct it)?
