Hello everyone--the reason that you're unable to edit that profile information from Zendesk is because that information is set through your MakeMusic account and relayed to Zendesk through an API endpoint. It's a little complicated, but the data can only travel in one direction so you'll need to adjust that information at https://store.makemusic.com/MyAccount/Default.aspx and then it will update here on Zendesk.

One other note--it's not currently possible to set a user profile picture via your MakeMusic account, though there are some known issues we're investigating that have allowed some users' profile images to appear in Zendesk anyways based on their email address. We'd certainly like to expand the Zendesk profile to let you manage all of that data here, but don't have a time frame for that right now.

I haven't figured it out either.

I have not tried a different browser yet and that could be the issue.

I noticed that registering my upgrade didn't work in Chrome but did in FireFox. Because I was successful in FF, there was no way to test Safari.

I wish we had a way of communicating with the Zendesk staff. I suspect it's their problem, not MM's.

I'll try a different browser and see what happens, but I'm not hopeful. The message that appears (see above) is too specific to be a browser error.

You do have access to the Description window, so you can list your Program Version, Computer Operating System, and other appropriate music software owned. That can be a great help when you have a question and forget to include the information in your post.

Do I wish it worked better? Yes. Do I wish profile info showed up as a signature file? Yes. But insofar as it does work, it makes sense to use it.

So what's the point? You can't see that information here where it might actually do some good when people post a problem.

Nohing like reading a) there's a way to post profiles b) but you can't post them c) they may fix that someday

i don't work for MM but at least I'm not an apologist for a flawed version of what used to be a great program and what has become terrible support. The online Help files take forever to search and are often wrong. They are no substitute for a searchable.pdf manual. One can't call in anymore? I hope that MM is saving a lot of money—I doubt that they'll get much more of mine.

At at least I'm not on Windows 10 dealing with the update issue.

I enjoy helping when I can but, since I can't read people's setups, I have to ask about them nearly every time. That's repetitive and boring and I don't have to do it.

Mike Halloran,

I do not have to ask you about your setup since I can read it all, just by clicking on your name at the top of your post:

Mike,

I am not a fan of (at least this user aspect of) the Zendesk system and have made no secret of that. I wish the Finale Forum were arranged as Steinberg has arranged the Dorico Forum. I gather that is likely to happen no time in the foreseeable future.

But I believe in learning to use what tools are provided to the best of my ability. Isn't that what has given us the ability to help others with Finale issues--that we have taken the features provided in the program and sought to use them (or find work-arounds for shortcomings) as productively as possible, even as we lobby for changes?

So until MM comes to its senses, I try to use what they supply as well as possible and remain honest but respectful about shortcomings. People who have difficulties with the learning curve or intricacies of Finale are not responsible for the shortcomings of this forum, so  like you, I try to help them using the tools available.

I, too, am glad I'm not dealing with Windows 10 (or Apple's Sierra), and I also get frustrated with people who ask for help but don't post what software or OS they are using. So I am not above asking people to use the limited Profile capabilities ("capability," singular?) to at least record that info. My photo is not so grand that I miss not being able to post it. :-)

So how did you manage to get a profile picture into your forum profile?

Hi David,

Users that have profile pictures have uploaded their picture using a third-party service known as Gravatar, which displays a user's "globally recognized avatar" on participating sites.

Thank you. I have added the e-mail address I use here to my Gravatar account, and have selected an image. Having also added this site to my list, my avatar has arrived. Apparently the universality of Gravatar is opt-in.

Looks like your picture move was successful, David.

Indeed. This relatively irrelevant exercise appears to be my most successful interaction yet with MakeMusic. I hope it's a good omen. In the meantime, my avatar is symbolic of much of my relationship with Finale.

Holy Cow! That was easy. When I saw those pages about code, I thought, Uh oh... Turns out, that's for web and app developers and doesn't apply to this.

Go to Gravatar

Create a WordPress login when asked. Verify your account when you get the email.

Create a Gravatar profile and upload a picture. You can include as much or as little  as you want. If you din't sign up with the email in your MakeMusic account, make sure to add it.

You're done.

When you come back and sign in, you'll discover your picture has uploaded. As an FYI. I didn't add this site to my list.
