Hello

Every time I open a text box and trigger any punctuation, treble accent or whatever, the program immediately quits.

Please, I need help.

Giovani Malini,

1) What Finale version are you using?

2) Windows or Mac OS? - and what version?

Please specify the steps you've already taken, so that we can rule out things.

Have you e. g.

- removed Finale’s Preferences file?

- re-booted the computer?

Your description of the problem indicates that the culprit might be a stuck key on the computer keyboard - physically stuck or electronically stuck.

I use the finale 25.5.0.259.

I use macbook pro (IOS) on MOJAVE version 10.14.6

The keyboard is physically in perfect condition.

I have restarted the computer several times.

About removing preferences file, I can not answer.

I am using a translator, I hope the translation is happening minimally good.

thanks

To remove Finale’s Preferences file you need to go to the Library folder in your Mac OS user account.

This folder is hidden by default.

To get to the hidden Library folder, hold down the Option key, and pull down the Finder’s Go menu.

Because of the Option key the Library folder will be a menu item in the Go menu.

Path:

(user account)/Library/Preferences

Look for the file 'com.makemusic.finale.fprf'.

Since you are using Finale v25, the Finale 25 preference file, it is no longer called what you might expect, i.e. 'Finale 25 Preferences', but rather 'com.makemusic.finale.fprf'.

great

I found the file and deleted it.

At the time I went to reopen the finale this screen that I send by attachment appeared.

I moved on and when I went to set the accent inside a text box, again the program closed itself.

Giovani,

Are you speaking of accents like à, é, ö, and the like? How are you entering them?

Does your Mac keyboard support the “long press” for accented letters? If you hold down the “e” key, do you get a small menu showing the accented choices with a number? (I don’t know if that works on non-US keyboards.) If it does work that way, try it in your Finale document. You should be able to enter the accented characters without crashing the computer.

The idea you gave is good and it works.

What I said to you is that when I am doing a score inside the program and I open a text box, and the text I am going to write, I have to use any kind of accent on it, the program closes immediately. Exemple: á or ã.

And that was not so, when I bought it it worked perfectly, after a while it started to happen.

about the file you instructed me to delete, I put it back in the library folder?

what about the picture I sent, what do I do?

It seems to me that this problem came up with a Mac update, rather than a Finale update.

I normally check "yes" when Finale asks me for feedback on their program's performance

(and I am pretty careful about what data I allow some providers to collect).
