Nonsense. 27 is opening files I created in 1989.

Now that we;ve gotten that out of the way, tell us what we need to know to help you.

It is not nonsense since that's what I have experienced. Finale has been producing software full of bugs since version 25 which actually erased files. Nonsense too?
With version 27 it won't open my files. Also nonsense to you?

What is your computer operating system and version? If this has been happening since F25, have you submitted a ticket to tech support? What was their response?

You haven't even told us which computer operating system and version you are using.

How old were the files you were trying to open?

I'm using PC on windows 10. I submitted a ticket with all this information today.
I didn't have this problem with version 26. But after downloaded the newest version 27 can't open my file. It gives a dialog box asking if you want articulations automatically adjusted or left unchanged. No matter what I choose it will crash. Says "Finale has encountered a problem and will close"

The file I'm trying to open is from 2019

Just downloaded v27 and am immediately having the same issue.  All songs previously created in v25. Trying to open them simply crashes the program.  Doesn't matter what option I select in the dialog box.  Using windows 10 OS, 64bit.

1) Welcome to the forum!

2) As a test (not as a solution), can you still open the Finale documents in v25?

If v25 can not open the documents, then there is reason to suspect some sort of file corruption (harddisk failure?).

How are you trying to open your files? By double clicking the file or by opening Finale 27 and using the File > Open option?

I've tried both ways...clicking the file and opening the program first.  Even tried opening Finale in Admin mode first, then opening the file.  No luck

Update: I got it to open; I just had to wait about 4 minutes while it hung on "Not Responding."  Seems pretty rough for that to happen each time, but I'm at least happy they open.

This is good. Now a trace can be run to see what the hangup is. It's been years since I was on a Windows support desk so I don't recall how, unfortunately.

I’m having same problem as Sasha. Macbook Pro Monterey .. v25 had issues too — scroll view would jump around like a moving target when I attempted to enter notes. When I created a new file in v27 that issue was gone, but I still can’t open older files. It’s kind of a nightmare
